About the Boat
Backdraft was built in Crisfield, MD in 1999 by Ronnie Carman. She was the first all glass Carman ever built. She is 46 feet long by 15 feet wide and is powered by twin 330hp Cummins turbo diesel engines. She is US Coast Guard certified to carry 35 passengers plus 2 crew. Backdraft was originally built for Captain Charlie Sisson, a career firefighter, who gave her the name Backdraft.
Backdraft has a bathroom (aka head), a cabin with seating area, and a dinette table. Customers are welcome to bring food and drinks. The boat has a strict no drug policy but alcoholic drinks are permitted. Please know your limits so we can all have a good time!

Mate Tip
Backdraft runs with a full time experienced first mate. Mates work hard before, during, and after each trip. Mates work for tips only. A 20% tip is customary and expected above the cost of the charter.

About the Captain
Captain Doug Collison aka “Dougie” -
I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay, its tributaries, and the Atlantic Ocean fishing and crabbing. After many years of working as a welder, I made the switch to fulltime commercial fisherman/Charter Captain in 2010. I hold a valid USCG Master Captain license and commercial fishing/crabbing licenses. There’s nothing I would rather do than spend each day on the water, waiting for the next rod to bend.
I purchased the Backdraft in 2022 from Captain Charlie Sisson. I have been working with Captain Charlie as his mate/relief Captain since 2014. When he made the hard decision to take a step back I was honored to continue his legendary service.
I hope to make your charter fishing experience a great one and hold myself and crew to a high standard of safety and cleanliness. I am happy to answer any questions about amenities or safety gear.
